The person can leave; history does not become fiction.
Ending representation should stop future authority according to the actual agreement. It should not erase who made an image, which releases were signed, which licenses remain active, which collector items were issued, or which payments were made. Those facts may still matter to the participant and to other parties.
Career portability therefore combines exit and preservation: remove access that is no longer authorized, deliver records the participant may carry, and retain only the history needed to honor lawful obligations, valid licenses, audit integrity, protection cases, and item verification.
An export should be useful, not merely complete-looking.
A participant package may include their profile, sessions, assets and derivatives they own or may receive, authorship and attestation summaries, agreements they are a party to, approved portfolio files, license summaries, edition or product relationships, earnings, payouts, disputes, and provenance history.
Use documented formats, stable identifiers, readable summaries, and a manifest that explains what is included and omitted. When a record points to a private file, the export should provide only the file or reference the participant is entitled to receive.
Portability is not extraction of everyone else's private data.
A session can involve another subject, photographer, buyer, representative, and production partner. The participant's export should not disclose another person's identity document, address, bank information, private message, unrelated agreement, source file, or protection evidence merely because the records share a project.
The export process needs permissions, redaction, access logging, expiration, and a way to explain withheld material. A user should be able to challenge an omission without exposing the protected record in the challenge itself.
Avoid technical lock-in too.
A portable record should not depend on one private dashboard remaining online forever. Human-readable documents and widely usable structured data are more durable than screenshots or proprietary IDs alone. The system should document versions and checksums so a later recipient can assess integrity.
Portability does not make Image Rights Vault the legal source of truth for every fact. Signed agreements, original files, registrations, payment records, and public authorities keep their own roles.
